Molong Substation Transformer Upgrade - Enerven & Deugro

In April 2026 our team was engaged by Enerven to provide crane hire services for the upgrade of the Molong substation. The scope of the project involved installing a new transformer, concrete poles, conductors and other auxiliary items. The critical lift was the installation of a 60t transformer in the live substation. To deliver this complex lift we utilised our Liebherr LTM 1350-6.1, a 350t mobile crane rigged with 140t of counterweight. With strict site ground bearing pressure requirements our TRT oversized outrigger pads were used to achieve ground pressures of less than 100kPa ensuring stability, performance and site compliance throughout the lift.

"Enerven Energy Infrastructure have been continuing to assist in providing construct and build services on various resource and electrical infrastructure projects across the greater New South Wales. Recently we have been tasked to complete a Transformer replacement at the TransGrid Molong substation. We were delighted to engage Central West Cranes to be able to pick and place the transformer from the float and place in position. This combined with various other lifting activities on the site has seen a wide range of specialised lifting equipment provided by CWS from a Franna crane to a 350 ton slew. The service, operators and collaborative information provided by Rob, Sarah and the team has been of a very high and safe standard. We look forward to working with CWS on future builds."

ACEREZ office complex - Merotherie NSW - Select Plant Hire

In 2025 our team was engaged by Select Plant Hire to provide crane hire services for the installation of the main office compound on the ACEREZ project at Merotherie NSW. The scope involved the precise placement of 166 modular buildings, forming the central office complex for the development. To deliver this efficiently and safely, we utilised our Grove GMK5220 220t mobile crane, ensuring reliable heavy-lift capability throughout the installation program.

ACEREZ accommodation complex - Merotheire NSW - DB Building

n 2025 we were engaged by DB Building to provide crane hire services for the installation of the accommodation facilities on the ACEREZ project at Merotherie NSW. This scope included the placement of 330 modular buildings across four precincts, along with key communal amenities such as wet mess, futsal court and gym. Our team delivered precise and efficient lifting support throughout the program, contributing to the safe and timely development of the fully serviced accommodation complex.

Locomotive dual lift - AR Ball Rolling Stock Maintenance Pty Ltd and Pacific National

In 2025 Central West Crane Services were engaged to undertake a complex lift of a locomotive with a transmission fault. The operation required a coordinated multi-crane solution, deploying three of our heavy lift assets to safely execute the works. Our 350t Liebherr LTM1350 and 220t Grove GMK5220 handled the dual lift while our Grove GMK4100 removed the transmission from the tracks and installed the replacement unit with precision. This project showcased our capability in heavy-lift projects and expertise in managing complex multi-crane lifts.

Yantabulla Communications Tower - Commplete Group

This project was undertaken in November 2024. Central West Crane Services provided crane hire to assist with the erection of a emergency services communication tower for Commplete Group.

We used our 220 ton Grove mobile crane to achieve 110 m tip height for a final tower height of 100 m. This required the use of inserts and fly and needle.

The project had some challenges due to the remote location approx. 120kms North West of Bourke NSW in hot and windy conditions.

Ongoing drill repairs– SMW Drilling

Central West Cranes Services undertakes ongoing work with SMW Drilling to assist with drill repairs on a mine site.

This type of work requires the insertion and removal of drill rods into the main drill and can be complex necessitating skilled operators.

Wollar Powerline Extension - Downer

This project was undertaken June through to September 2022. The extension of the powerline for Transgrid was required to deliver power generated from the Wollar Solar Farm to the existing local electricity network. Central West Crane Services provided crane hire starting at the foundations of the transmission tower through to the erection of the tower.

Wollar Sub Station - Downer

This project was undertaken June through to September 2022. The approval and construction of the Wollar Solar Farm necessitated the construction of a new substation by Transgrid. Central West Crane Services provided mobile crane hire for the assembly of the sub station. We completed the following tasks: lifting in switch rooms, busbar and participating in the cranage of the transformer.

Parkes Bypass Bridge Beam Installation - Georgiou Group

This project was undertaken in October of 2024. Transport for NSW is building a new 10.5-kilometre bypass on the western outskirts of Parkes to reduce travel time, improve freight productivity and efficiency, pedestrian access through Parkes and traffic flow. Central West Crane Services worked with Borger Cranes to assist them with the installation of 6 bridge beams. CWCS provided our 220 ton mobile crane for the assembly and disassembly of Borger’s 750 and 650 ton cranes.

Mine Major Works - Peabody

Works for Peabody (Wilpinjong Coal Mine) are ongoing. Two examples in 2024 include a 100 ton D11 dozer recovery and a 50 ton excavator recovery. Both of these projects were the result of engine failures in the mining equipment. Central West Crane Services provided emergency mobile crane services to lift and move the equipment to allow for repairs and to ensure the mining operations could continue in a timely manner.

Mining camp Wilpinjong NSW - ATCO

This project was undertaken October 2024. Central West Crane Services assisted with both crane hire and logistics on this project. The project consisted of approximately 50 buildings which needed to be lifted in to place. CWCS used our 220 ton Grove mobile crane, 40 ton Liebherr mobile crane, MAC25 super lift Franna, our 40 foot flat top trailer and tilt tray on the project.

Highly recommend Central West Cranes Services and Logistics. Nothing is ever an issue, Rob and his team are highly experienced and always on time. I know any work I have in Central West NSW the team at Central West will be doing all of my work!!

Rye Park Wind Farm - Vestas/Mammoet

This project was undertaken March through to September of 2023. Located 11kms north east of Yass, Rye Park Wind Farm will be the largest constructed wind farm in NSW to date. Rye Park Wind Farm will consist of 66 turbines, with a maximum generating capacity of 396MW, and will produce enough clean energy to power 215,000 homes to reduce carbon emissions by around 960,000 tons per year. Central West Crane Services build the LG 1750, a 750 ton lattice crane, which erected the wind turbines.
